- Madrid, 1971. Iván Araujo graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UCM (Madrid) in 1994, specialisation in chalcographic engraving, and at the same time he developed an intense activity in engraving workshops where he began to work professionally: EEGEE 3 and subsequently Ediciones Benveniste. He works with Dan Benveniste from 1994 to 1999, as an assistant, deepening the making, printmaking, and editing processes of plates of renowned artists in the national and above all international sphere, specialising in large-format editions. At the same time he continued to work on his own graphic and original work, receiving his first awards Pilar Juncosa and Sothebys, Fundación Miró, Mallorca, Carmen Arozena, etc. and started working with galleries in the national territory. From 1999 to 2001 he took the position of Associate Professor of Engraving at the Faculty of BBAA of UCM in Madrid, where he taught engraving and other technical resources of the graphic arts. In 2001, he decided to open his own studio in Madrid, where he researches and edits his work in exclusivity ever since, maintaining that double creative aspect between painting and graphic work and monotype, a discipline to which he has devoted special attention. To date he held numerous exhibitions, fairs and editions and works with top-tier galleries of the national territory. He has received several awards and mentions (Maximo Ramos, Contratalla Biennial, Caixanova); and simultaneously he has carried out research on the possibilities of engraving with various artists who come to his workshop to work.
